I did this painting a few years ago. The painting came about after seeing some sketches and photgraphs of the Halfway River. The Halfway River runs behind what used to be Stevenson Lumber (they went out of business last year). One of my friends lived up the road from this scene and we went hiking out there all the time.
I tried to convey the almost idyllic peacefulness that was there - one of the few spots you can find this in Fairfield County....
